The “Steel” colorway, with its unique toe cap design, has always been a topic of debate. The original release featured a distinctive toe cap that set it apart from other models, but it was later removed in subsequent releases, causing controversy among purists and collectors. Despite this, the shoe’s clean white and black leather upper with steel grey accents has consistently made it a favorite.
With previous retros in 2005 and 2013, each re-release of the “Steel” has reignited discussions about the toe cap and its place in sneaker history. The 2025 edition is expected to bring back the polarizing toe cap, staying true to its original design and offering purists another chance to own a piece of Jordan Brand history.
